Legionnaire Notebook of Handwritten PoemsTranscribed and translated

We believe this notebook first belonged to Kārlis Ģinters, then passed to Pāvils Ratnieks when Ģinters was killed in battle. Earlier entries are dated 1944, later ones from internment at Zedelgem. Ģinters is listed on the memorial wall of fallen Latvian Legion soldiers in Lestene, Kurzeme.

These poems and songs were well known after the war in the Displaced Persons camps in Germany.
